Already Working Out at Home?
Some of us already participate in at-home workouts, but according to the CDC, we don't get enough exercise. You should be doing strength training at least twice per week and at last 2 1/2 hours of moderate aerobic activity per week. Are you among those working out but not getting in enough of what you need? You don't need a personal trainer or expensive equipment, just make sure you're getting in enough exercise each week.
Don't have room?
No matter what your living space is size-wise, you can always make room to workout. You don't need a whole room that houses an at-home gym. You don't need space for fancy equipment. You want to find a space that will allow you to use your own body weight as resistance, such as ballet routines or some high-intensity interval training programs. You can even find programs that target specific workouts in small spaces, such as hotel rooms or dorm rooms. It might also require that you move some of your furniture around. Try for a space that will allow you to lay down. This will definitely give you enough room for lunges.
Workout Boredom?
Bored with your current workout routine? Change it up! Vary your workouts will keep them exciting. It's easy to try new workouts if you can stream them online or view step by step instructions on a website. There are tons of free workouts out there to try. Make sure you keep your workout a challenge for your personal fitness level. No one is there to monitor you to make sure you don't skip that last rep, so keep yourself motivated and excited.
Get a Workout Partner!
No one says you need to work out alone. Get your family or BFF to come over and workout. This doesn’t mean you need to join a gym. You can invite them over and workout from the comfort of your home. Having a second person to keep you both accountable can help motivate you both. Plus, this has the added benefit of allowing you time to catch up and chat while you burn calories.
