Above is an image of a boy sitting in a chair on a table, looking out a window. The wall is covered in writing, pipes, and cords. This would lead you to believe this might be a lower floor or basement. The fun is to tell the story based on what you see. Why is he there? Why is he looking out the window? Why is his chair on a table? The possibilities are endless. Here is my story:
Once there was a boy, who lived in a city so big that he couldn't even name a fraction of the people he passed each and everyday. His day always started and ended the same, but the middle was filled with endless choices. Each day held new adventures and opportunities. His favorite find was a small basement apartment that had been converted into a small studio. He was able to create, build, or just people watch. To prevent the outside world from invading his space, he had covered the long, narrow window with a tarp. This also served the duel purpose of keeping out the cold during the winter months.
One day, he sat in deep contemplation when a girl popped her head in through the window. "What are you doing?" she asked. Her eyes gleamed with knowledge way beyond her years.
"I'm contemplating the knowledge I've accumulated over the last few weeks," he answered.
"What does that mean?" Excitement sparked within her voice as she climbed into the room, dropping down from the high window...
These images are great for story starters! I love just sitting and writing. If you are really curious, on Thursday of each week, they will give you the description about what the story is actually about. "A ballboy watched Samantha Stosur of Australia during her semifinal tennis match against Jelena Jankovic of Serbia at the French Open in Paris..." was the actual caption for this image taken by Jacques Demarthon.
