Today, I'd like to give a giant shout out to all the people who are participating in #RandomActsOfKindnessDay and well as those that do it all the time! #applause - Here are my #Top10 things you could do! 1. The number one thing you could do is just leave a positive note for someone. Find a random location and leave a little bit of positivity for the day! 2. Leave a little spare change or money in a public place. This could be in a book, on a soda machine, or even a random seat somewhere. Remember to leave a little positive note to make someone else smile! 3. Hold open a door for a stranger! It seems simple enough, but how often to people get in a rush and not do this simple act. To kick it up a notch- spend 5 minutes in a random location and just hold the door. 4. Offer someone in need food or clothing. Small acts can go a long way when you are hungry or cold. 5. Say Thank you! It seems like we should always do this, but this small step often gets let out. Write a note back to your waitress or give a smile and thank you to someone who helps you! 6. Share an umbrella! Today looks rainy in many places. Share your umbrella with a stranger or someone in need. You could also share a table at a crowded restaurant or a seat on a bench. Offer a bit of kindness to those around you. 7. Put down the technology and speak to someone! We spend so much time inside our new world of technology. Spend time in the real world and talk to someone, ask about their day, etc. face to face. 8. Help carry something for someone. It could be your neighbor or random stranger at the grocery store. This is free and doesn't require more than a few minutes of your time. 9. Pay for someone's drink or meal while in line or in the drive thru. Just say you want to pay for yours and the car behind you. 10. And for my last thing you could do on #RandomActsOfKindnessDay is give something away: flowers, clothing, etc. I'd love to hear your stories about someone who helped you or how you participated in this awesome reminder of kindness. Leave me a message and let me know.

Have you been waiting to hear those three magical words that seem to break through barriers, open futures, and explode hearts? Do you wonder if there are deeper feelings at play in your relationship or if you are just reading into things too much. Here are few signs that there might be more to your relationship. Deeper feelings sometimes bloom long before those three magic words, I love you, appear in a conversation. 1. They take every chance they can get to touch you or make contact. A small brush of fingers against your back or pushing your hair away from your face are sure signs that they want to touch you. This non-sexual touching could be signs of deeper feelings stirring up. 2. Another sign of deeper feelings is having a base friendship. You are always the first person they tell all their "T" or gossip (good and bad). Being the person they run to no matter what is a heady experience. A decent relationship could easily bloom out of the roots of a deep friendship. Do they stay curious and in the know about your changing feelings and likes? Keeping current with what is on your mind, asking questions, engaging in conversation are all ways he/she is trying to show you that they care. That you are important. 3. They are never far from you. Have you noticed that they always seem to be within contact range? Whether cell phone or in person, being easily accessible could be a sign of something more. Relationship that thrive on connection, will easily bloom and thrive when you are close at hand. 4. What's next? Do they always seem to remember all the important dates and details? If you are important enough for them to remember birthdays or family events, there might be more on their mind than friendship. This might also include important information about you that you mentioned randomly in that one conversation. Do they remember what you like in musically choice, drinks, or even what your favorite color is? 5. If they take the time to listen, they might also be a shoulder to cry on or a sounding board that will listen. Actively listening to what you have to say, especially during the rough patches, shows they will be supportive. Having a strong, supportive platform at the start of a relationship could create a foundation for a strong, supportive relationship that will last. Does he/she empathize with your problems or moods? Again, if they are taking the time to communicate and listen, there might be deeper feelings at play. 6. Although with listen, they should be supportive of your successes! Are they one of your biggest cheerleaders? Do they lift you up when you're successful as much as when you are failing? Building a deeper relationship should include times when you are successful and are celebrated for that success. Life needs a balance between lows and highs. A fundamental building block of a relationship should be this support at all levels of emotions. 7. Wait, they didn't run away in terror when you brought up the idea of a future? Some deeper feelings may scare him/her away, where as in other people they will jump to show you they are committed to a future with you in it (whatever relationship capacity that may be). Fear of the future shows a lack of commitment. 8. Do you ever get random notes that seem to have no relevance to holidays or special occasions? Even a sweet text message wishing you a great day or dropping a note to say something like "you were on my mind"... these may be signs that he/she wants to tell you there is something deeper. Somethings the first signs of a relationship growing emotionally deeper are sweet notes. 9. There are other ways to say "I love you" without using words. Remember that a lot of the time, actions really do speak louder than words. He/she may show you how they feel, but not, for one reason or another, be able to speak those three tiny words that most people crave to hear. Does he do things around the house? 10. Does he/she give in to your opinions or ideas, even when they want to do the opposite? Compromising is key to finding a balanced relationship. Be on the look out for ways he/she puts you first. Do they offer to do things they know you will like? Maybe it was that movie that just came out, even though they wanted to see the one that was just next door. Little gestures, such as letting you pick the restaurant, might be signs that he/she cares. This list is definitely not the only ways that someone in your life may shows you they love you without saying "I love you" out loud. If you have other ideas, thoughts, or just want to add to my list, please post a comment below!
What is your writing set up? Coffee? Notebook? What are the tools of the trade for you? Let me tell you my #top10Things to my writing style! #amwriting #romance #tools #steampunk 10. Location! Location! Location! There is nothing better than a serene location to allow the creative juices to flow! #view #peaceful 9. Notebook! I always keep a notebook near at hand. You never know when you need to scribble down notes that may or may not make it into the machine of our times! #OldSchool #Notebook #amwriting 8. Laptop I mean, we are in the 21st century. Who doesn't keep a running record of their work. Plus, I can update cool inspiration, quotes, or random thoughts into twitter! #inspiration #laptop #amwriting 7. Company- there is nothing better than having good company or a writing buddy that you can bounce ideas off of or just chit chat while you take a short break. #friends #inspiration #amwriting 6. Coffee! I mean, who can really survive without a few hundred jolts of caffeine! Whether it is a sugary mocha something or other or a straight black cup of Joe- coffee is a necessary part of the process. #process #amwriting 5. Image Bank! I find that having an image bank to fall back on in case I get stuck or need a quick break during a long stretch is helpful. This is also dangerous, because you have to be careful not to fall down the rabbit hole of #Pinterest #amwriting 4. Plot Cards! I keep a deck of plot cards, courtesy of @meltodd81, that can be used to throw in random plot twists or ideas. This is great for giving the writing (me) a challenge and ideas to play with. You never know where this will take you! #amwriting #PlotTwist 3. Comfort. Depending on where you are at when you are writing, it might depend on what you are wearing or where you are seated. I like to curl up in a comfortable seat in my PJs or sweats and type away! #comfort #amwriting 2. Time. When I sit down to write with all the craziness that life throws at us a daily basis... it's nice to carve out a chunk of time dedicated to writing. This is not always possible with spouse, kids, life, etc. BUT it is an important part of my planning. #amwriting 1. My number one requirement when I #amwriting is Music! I usually fall back on soothing background music, such as "Hobbit-The Misty Mountains Cold" This on a 3 hour repeat is awesome for zoning into writing and staying focused. #music #MistyMountain #Hobbit I would love to hear about your writing habits and routines. Do they look like mine? Is there something you do that you would suggest? Please like and post below!
Monday, February 18, 2019 is Presidents Day. What does this mean? As the kids get excited for their day off of school and adults get a day off of work, I ponder began to ponder... what is Presidents Day all about. This holiday was originally celebrated to honor George Washington's birthday. Did you know that people celebrated this holiday even before it's official holiday date in 1879?
Up until Congress passed the "Monday Holiday Law," making holidays be observed on Mondays despite their "actual" date, Washington's actual birthday, on February 22, was celebrated on it's correct date up until 1968. Did you know that the theory behind the Monday Holiday Law was in hopes that a three day weekend would have economic benefits? How do you feel about celebrating holidays on Mondays? If this was a special day to you, such as your birthday, would you want it celebrated on a different day? Back to the reason for the holiday. This holiday was designed to celebrate one of the most important figures in American history, George Washington. It has since branched out to include all American Presidents celebrated in one day! After years of celebrations, Washington was also honored through the building of the Washington moment and later with the construction of Mount Rushmore. So, one writing strategy I like to use from time to time is to write short one liners, or six word stories. These are just fun to think up! The challenge is to attempt to write the story in exactly six words. Below are some random examples! Please feel free to share your own or add a 6-word story for an image below! Image 1: He remembers the feeling of wholeness! Image 2: One kiss... one moment... one lifetime! Image 3: A world of possibilities and wonder! Image 4: An unrealistic expectation of body image! Image 5: They danced without music- harmonious bliss! Image 6: Her eyes smoldered with unbridled passion! Image 7: Fresh snow covered the forest- peace! Image 8: Family traditions kept alive through generations. Image 9: Small package- big bang! Dream Big! Image 10: They'll never find me in here. Have you every written a short blurb? Now is a great time to give it a shot! What story do you want to tell? Feel free to leave me a comment below with your story.

I am an inspired soul who loves to write and take photographs. I read and write constantly and have been inspired by many people throughout my life. I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on but my favorites were always R.L. Stine and L.J. Smith (prior to the Vampire Diaries). I have composed many things through the past several years and would like to use this blog as a way to share some of them with you (both new and old writings). I would love feedback both positive and negative to help me improve my writing. Thank you for following this blog. Archives
