Have you been waiting to hear those three magical words that seem to break through barriers, open futures, and explode hearts? Do you wonder if there are deeper feelings at play in your relationship or if you are just reading into things too much. Here are few signs that there might be more to your relationship. Deeper feelings sometimes bloom long before those three magic words, I love you, appear in a conversation. 1. They take every chance they can get to touch you or make contact. A small brush of fingers against your back or pushing your hair away from your face are sure signs that they want to touch you. This non-sexual touching could be signs of deeper feelings stirring up. 2. Another sign of deeper feelings is having a base friendship. You are always the first person they tell all their "T" or gossip (good and bad). Being the person they run to no matter what is a heady experience. A decent relationship could easily bloom out of the roots of a deep friendship. Do they stay curious and in the know about your changing feelings and likes? Keeping current with what is on your mind, asking questions, engaging in conversation are all ways he/she is trying to show you that they care. That you are important. 3. They are never far from you. Have you noticed that they always seem to be within contact range? Whether cell phone or in person, being easily accessible could be a sign of something more. Relationship that thrive on connection, will easily bloom and thrive when you are close at hand. 4. What's next? Do they always seem to remember all the important dates and details? If you are important enough for them to remember birthdays or family events, there might be more on their mind than friendship. This might also include important information about you that you mentioned randomly in that one conversation. Do they remember what you like in musically choice, drinks, or even what your favorite color is? 5. If they take the time to listen, they might also be a shoulder to cry on or a sounding board that will listen. Actively listening to what you have to say, especially during the rough patches, shows they will be supportive. Having a strong, supportive platform at the start of a relationship could create a foundation for a strong, supportive relationship that will last. Does he/she empathize with your problems or moods? Again, if they are taking the time to communicate and listen, there might be deeper feelings at play. 6. Although with listen, they should be supportive of your successes! Are they one of your biggest cheerleaders? Do they lift you up when you're successful as much as when you are failing? Building a deeper relationship should include times when you are successful and are celebrated for that success. Life needs a balance between lows and highs. A fundamental building block of a relationship should be this support at all levels of emotions. 7. Wait, they didn't run away in terror when you brought up the idea of a future? Some deeper feelings may scare him/her away, where as in other people they will jump to show you they are committed to a future with you in it (whatever relationship capacity that may be). Fear of the future shows a lack of commitment. 8. Do you ever get random notes that seem to have no relevance to holidays or special occasions? Even a sweet text message wishing you a great day or dropping a note to say something like "you were on my mind"... these may be signs that he/she wants to tell you there is something deeper. Somethings the first signs of a relationship growing emotionally deeper are sweet notes. 9. There are other ways to say "I love you" without using words. Remember that a lot of the time, actions really do speak louder than words. He/she may show you how they feel, but not, for one reason or another, be able to speak those three tiny words that most people crave to hear. Does he do things around the house? 10. Does he/she give in to your opinions or ideas, even when they want to do the opposite? Compromising is key to finding a balanced relationship. Be on the look out for ways he/she puts you first. Do they offer to do things they know you will like? Maybe it was that movie that just came out, even though they wanted to see the one that was just next door. Little gestures, such as letting you pick the restaurant, might be signs that he/she cares. This list is definitely not the only ways that someone in your life may shows you they love you without saying "I love you" out loud. If you have other ideas, thoughts, or just want to add to my list, please post a comment below!

From Chapter 4: This scene is where the heroine and hero meet! The chase continued for several minutes unaware that a rider had ridden into view. The man watched the chase and frowned as the thief began to pull away towards the forest once again. Did he really have to help this other lord? It was the code, after all, but the two boys were so entertaining, Branton had to just laugh. Gabbing the horse’s flanks, he closed the gap in no time. In one smooth glide, he leapt off the horse and tackled the thief to the ground. They tumbled in several circles before coming to a halt. Grunting both from the ease of the tackle and the impact with the ground, he pinned the thief’s arms to his side. The body underneath him stilled. “Get off my sister!” Mika demanded huffing. He stood by the pair with his hands on his hips and a frown on his face. Sister? Branton peered down at the thief with narrowed eyes and frowned, confusion crossed his brows. How had he ever mistaken her for a boy? Her hat had tumbled off her head and her rust red curls spilled out over her dirty face to pool around her shoulders. Blue eyes blazed with an alluring mix of shock and amusement. Or at least he hoped it was amusement. She even felt soft and small underneath him. Jumping away as if he had been burned, he pulled her to her feet so fast he had to catch her before she stumbled forward. Releasing her, he nimbly stepped away. She brushed herself off as she stared at him through downcast eyes. What was she playing at? “I’m sorry. I thought...” he paused and looked back and forth between the two. The boy smiled and looked as if he was holding in a laugh whereas the girl had a straight face. “As you should have, sir,” she said. “My acting is great!” She shoved her hair up under the cap. Disappointment wasn’t new, but he still felt a jolt as it kicked him. Her hair was lovely and he found that he wanted to crush the curls between his fingers. He had to fight back the urge to kiss her dust covered lips. Mentally grounding the thought out of his head, he shook his head to ward off the foreign feelings invading his mind. “You are not! He believed me, not you!” The lord flashed a smile and gave a theatrical bow. Sister and Brother? Could she be the hidden neighbor he had yet to meet? What were their names? Mika and … A single strand of hair slipped out, waving at him in the breeze. Copper. “You helped, but you’re not very convincing,” she taunted. “I thought you were both good,” Branton broke in, not knowing whether they were playing or not. For the first time in his life he felt out of place in the drama that was unfolding in front of him. He found himself amused. It had been so long since he had found himself amused. “Are you hurt?” Mika asked his sister suddenly serious, as if Branton wasn’t standing next to them. Mika had stepped closer to take a look at her. “Yes, of course I’m fine,” she said brushing him off, pushing him away. “It takes more than the likes of him to do me harm.” “Who are you?” Mika asked turning his attention back to the mysterious rider. “You can call me Branton.” He bowed with a smile. A twinkle lit his eyes. He couldn’t believe that he met someone who didn’t know him. “Who are you?” “Nice to make your acquaintance sir. This is Mika and I’m Copper.” Mika kept his mouth shut as he stared at the other man. His eyes narrowed and his lips pursed. This didn’t go unnoticed to Branton. Was he not supposed to know who they were? “Very nice to meet you both. Allow me to walk you home milady.” He offered his arm to her and she looked at him strangely. Crossing her arms over her chest, she was plainly ignoring his offer. Cocking his head to the side, he dropped his arm. No one refused him. Ever! This was definitely getting more interesting by the minute. “Oh please. I don’t need a body guard or a babysitter, thank you,” she said crossly. Something about her intrigued him. “Copper, be nice to Viscount Bannister. I’m sorry my lord, she doesn’t understand her place as of yet. She needs to be set right. A matter I will attend to as soon as possible.” The outward calm Mika projected didn’t fool Branton. He could see the worry etched across his face. “Bannister?” she asked surprised. “What’s a Bannister doing alone in the countryside? Aren’t you supposed to be drinking tea with the Duke or something?” Branton let out a laugh as Mika tried to put a hand over Copper’s mouth. “Aww… you bit me,” he yelled at his sister. His hand waved wildly at his side. “What’s so funny?” She looked at her brother crossly. “What do you mean I need to learn my place? How dare you.” Mika backed off with his hands raised and looked at Branton. “I would say she does need to be taught her place, Mika. Milady, I find it most interesting your father lets you out this way,” he said referring to her breeches. Copper’s eyes grew wide and her mouth tightened. Mika put a hand on her arm protectively. “I see. So he doesn’t know you’re out and about then. Very interesting indeed.” “You mustn’t tell him about this sir. I beg you,” Copper blurted out her voice shaking on the verge of terror. “Please.” Her eyes blazed so intensely he was captivated by them. Jolts of feelings coursed through him at her begging. She was soft and female in that moment and she needed him. Something inside him wanted to capture that female part of her and never let her go. He shook his mind free as a vivid image appeared in his head of her laying at his feet with her hair tumbling over her sun kissed skin. I must have knocked myself silly, he began to think again, for she really wasn’t very pretty. She was small and couldn’t be more than 14 or 15. How old was she? “Our father would punish her sir, and I can’t allow that to happen. You must understand,” Mika said. Branton didn’t think anyone could harm such a spirited woman, but he played along. A mix of confusing feelings swarmed his senses that he couldn’t sort out. No one had ever affected him as she was. “Okay, but I want a favor in return for my silence Lady Aertes.” “How did you know my name?” she demanded. “Rumors travel both ways. Just as your brother knew me through reputation, I know of my neighbors as well.” “What kind of favor?” she asked cautiously biting on her lower lip as her brother narrowed his eyes. Favors among the nobility could get sticky and usually resulted in deeper amounts of debt, but what he wanted would be debt free. “I would like you and your brother to come to dinner at my father’s estate within a fortnight. I will send invitations to your father as is the normal ritual. I would like to get to know you, Mika and look forward to putting the past behind our families. It has actually been on my to-do list for quite some time now.” “If it pleases you to have us sir,” Mika agreed. Branton could see the internal struggle warring inside him. Copper bit her lip harder, pulling at her tunic with frustration. Did she have more to say? “Brilliant, then I will look forward to making your acquaintance for the first time.” He mounted his horse and smiled. “Good day sir, milady.” For more of Lady Copper see Donjaline Hope's books or click the link above!
No moments wasted. Waking up one never expects to hear a loved one has died. Never did I ever think, it's my turn. You see, I'm not all that old, just in my thirties. Too young are the ones around me to die. I remember sitting in this very chair that I am sitting in even now to write this, when I got the news. A dear friend, one of the my best, called to say her soulmate was gone, ripped from this world suddenly. What does one say to something like that? What is there to say? Love and comfort, helplessness and grief, pain and sorrow- an emotional roller coaster. Offering what support I could, I wait to see what is next. Waiting for the shock to set in and the reality of the situation to take hold, I simply wait. During the night I found myself restless, checking on both my toddler and my husband- just because I needed to know that they were there and safe, alive and breathing. I told myself that I was going to tell them everyday that I love them and how much they mean to me. The following day, I turned on the radio to hear Meagan Trainor singing "I'm going to love you- like I'm going to lose you". I couldn't help thinking about how this summed up my current state of mind. I wanted to take the time to tell you- my readers, my family, my friends that I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. I am who I am because of the people around me and in my life. I promised myself to never take my loved ones for granted. Hold onto the ones you love, you never know when they'll be taken from you! Lastly , I wanted to write a special tribute to my friend and her lost soulmate. I wanted to tell you about the man she lost. Although I wasn't as close to him, I knew he was full of life and love. Whenever he came near her, her eyes would light up with a look that only he could produce from her. Her husband enjoyed the small moments in life, from gaming to LARPing with the Atlanta Interactive Theater (AIT). Adventure and fantasy, his mind was always thinking. He was also caring and loving, putting her first, as well as helping her take care of her family. If ever she needed him, he was there. Love and support. Never did I hear her mention a bad word about him. It was truly a match full of love! My favorite memory: two pounds of bacon… all in the oven at the same time to ease his heart and keep him company while she was away on a retreat. Nothing he did was halfway! He will missed. |

I am an inspired soul who loves to write and take photographs. I read and write constantly and have been inspired by many people throughout my life. I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on but my favorites were always R.L. Stine and L.J. Smith (prior to the Vampire Diaries). I have composed many things through the past several years and would like to use this blog as a way to share some of them with you (both new and old writings). I would love feedback both positive and negative to help me improve my writing. Thank you for following this blog. Archives
