Through out the last few years, my family has enjoyed the adventures of our elf, Jingle Bells! I wanted to capture a few of his antics to share with you. Jingle Bells joined our family and soon started reeking havoc all over our house! He even came with a suitcase of clothes. Jingle Bells seems to be attracted to shiny objects- whether they be bath beads or lights on the Christmas tree. He also loves to find nooks and crannies to hide or a place to just hang out! This year, Jingle Bells even tried to disguise himself by sneaking into the play mustaches! We weren't fooled though! Our elf also loves to play with toys and is always up for building a snowman (even when there isn't any snow outside)! Our elf will always find a way to entertain us! I would love to hear what kind of trouble your elf has gotten into this year! What are you favorite elf antics? Jingle Bells is always looking for interesting ways to get into trouble! Thank you for reading, Happy Holidays!

What’s a meme you may ask? A meme, according to the dictionary, is an element of a culture or system or behavior that is passed from one individual to another by means of technology or imitation. They are usually humorous in nature, including a bit of text and an image or video. These memes are then rapidly spread across the internet like wildfire! With that in mind, what makes a good meme? Is it grumpy animals, famous stars, or just ridiculous images of randomness? Meme have exploded on the internet from Trump to moths, from Fortnite to Mickey Mouse. You can literally make a meme out of just about any image! Let’s take a look at some memes I find entertaining, because let’s face it- entertainment is the name of the game here. A meme for the New Year: Teacher Memes: Mom memes: Memes for Dads: Memes for gamers: Political Memes (*please note there is not a political agenda here, just meme fun): And a few of my favorites from 2019: because who could forget the woman yelling vs. cat memes! Fell free to leave me a message below with your favorite meme! Happy memeing!
Have you been waiting to hear those three magical words that seem to break through barriers, open futures, and explode hearts? Do you wonder if there are deeper feelings at play in your relationship or if you are just reading into things too much. Here are few signs that there might be more to your relationship. Deeper feelings sometimes bloom long before those three magic words, I love you, appear in a conversation. 1. They take every chance they can get to touch you or make contact. A small brush of fingers against your back or pushing your hair away from your face are sure signs that they want to touch you. This non-sexual touching could be signs of deeper feelings stirring up. 2. Another sign of deeper feelings is having a base friendship. You are always the first person they tell all their "T" or gossip (good and bad). Being the person they run to no matter what is a heady experience. A decent relationship could easily bloom out of the roots of a deep friendship. Do they stay curious and in the know about your changing feelings and likes? Keeping current with what is on your mind, asking questions, engaging in conversation are all ways he/she is trying to show you that they care. That you are important. 3. They are never far from you. Have you noticed that they always seem to be within contact range? Whether cell phone or in person, being easily accessible could be a sign of something more. Relationship that thrive on connection, will easily bloom and thrive when you are close at hand. 4. What's next? Do they always seem to remember all the important dates and details? If you are important enough for them to remember birthdays or family events, there might be more on their mind than friendship. This might also include important information about you that you mentioned randomly in that one conversation. Do they remember what you like in musically choice, drinks, or even what your favorite color is? 5. If they take the time to listen, they might also be a shoulder to cry on or a sounding board that will listen. Actively listening to what you have to say, especially during the rough patches, shows they will be supportive. Having a strong, supportive platform at the start of a relationship could create a foundation for a strong, supportive relationship that will last. Does he/she empathize with your problems or moods? Again, if they are taking the time to communicate and listen, there might be deeper feelings at play. 6. Although with listen, they should be supportive of your successes! Are they one of your biggest cheerleaders? Do they lift you up when you're successful as much as when you are failing? Building a deeper relationship should include times when you are successful and are celebrated for that success. Life needs a balance between lows and highs. A fundamental building block of a relationship should be this support at all levels of emotions. 7. Wait, they didn't run away in terror when you brought up the idea of a future? Some deeper feelings may scare him/her away, where as in other people they will jump to show you they are committed to a future with you in it (whatever relationship capacity that may be). Fear of the future shows a lack of commitment. 8. Do you ever get random notes that seem to have no relevance to holidays or special occasions? Even a sweet text message wishing you a great day or dropping a note to say something like "you were on my mind"... these may be signs that he/she wants to tell you there is something deeper. Somethings the first signs of a relationship growing emotionally deeper are sweet notes. 9. There are other ways to say "I love you" without using words. Remember that a lot of the time, actions really do speak louder than words. He/she may show you how they feel, but not, for one reason or another, be able to speak those three tiny words that most people crave to hear. Does he do things around the house? 10. Does he/she give in to your opinions or ideas, even when they want to do the opposite? Compromising is key to finding a balanced relationship. Be on the look out for ways he/she puts you first. Do they offer to do things they know you will like? Maybe it was that movie that just came out, even though they wanted to see the one that was just next door. Little gestures, such as letting you pick the restaurant, might be signs that he/she cares. This list is definitely not the only ways that someone in your life may shows you they love you without saying "I love you" out loud. If you have other ideas, thoughts, or just want to add to my list, please post a comment below!
Monday, February 18, 2019 is Presidents Day. What does this mean? As the kids get excited for their day off of school and adults get a day off of work, I ponder began to ponder... what is Presidents Day all about. This holiday was originally celebrated to honor George Washington's birthday. Did you know that people celebrated this holiday even before it's official holiday date in 1879?
Up until Congress passed the "Monday Holiday Law," making holidays be observed on Mondays despite their "actual" date, Washington's actual birthday, on February 22, was celebrated on it's correct date up until 1968. Did you know that the theory behind the Monday Holiday Law was in hopes that a three day weekend would have economic benefits? How do you feel about celebrating holidays on Mondays? If this was a special day to you, such as your birthday, would you want it celebrated on a different day? Back to the reason for the holiday. This holiday was designed to celebrate one of the most important figures in American history, George Washington. It has since branched out to include all American Presidents celebrated in one day! After years of celebrations, Washington was also honored through the building of the Washington moment and later with the construction of Mount Rushmore. As a writer and teacher, I am always looking for inspiration and interesting ways to improve my writing skills. Whether that is writing a blog, continuing a novel, or playing around with images! The New York Times has an awesome site for anyone of any age to tell a story. Weekly images, like the one above, are posted without any explanation. From this image, people of all ages are able to comment, write, and make educated (or non-educated) guesses about where the image is from and what is happening.
Above is an image of a boy sitting in a chair on a table, looking out a window. The wall is covered in writing, pipes, and cords. This would lead you to believe this might be a lower floor or basement. The fun is to tell the story based on what you see. Why is he there? Why is he looking out the window? Why is his chair on a table? The possibilities are endless. Here is my story: Once there was a boy, who lived in a city so big that he couldn't even name a fraction of the people he passed each and everyday. His day always started and ended the same, but the middle was filled with endless choices. Each day held new adventures and opportunities. His favorite find was a small basement apartment that had been converted into a small studio. He was able to create, build, or just people watch. To prevent the outside world from invading his space, he had covered the long, narrow window with a tarp. This also served the duel purpose of keeping out the cold during the winter months. One day, he sat in deep contemplation when a girl popped her head in through the window. "What are you doing?" she asked. Her eyes gleamed with knowledge way beyond her years. "I'm contemplating the knowledge I've accumulated over the last few weeks," he answered. "What does that mean?" Excitement sparked within her voice as she climbed into the room, dropping down from the high window... These images are great for story starters! I love just sitting and writing. If you are really curious, on Thursday of each week, they will give you the description about what the story is actually about. "A ballboy watched Samantha Stosur of Australia during her semifinal tennis match against Jelena Jankovic of Serbia at the French Open in Paris..." was the actual caption for this image taken by Jacques Demarthon. |

I am an inspired soul who loves to write and take photographs. I read and write constantly and have been inspired by many people throughout my life. I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on but my favorites were always R.L. Stine and L.J. Smith (prior to the Vampire Diaries). I have composed many things through the past several years and would like to use this blog as a way to share some of them with you (both new and old writings). I would love feedback both positive and negative to help me improve my writing. Thank you for following this blog. Archives
