I recently joined Upwork to delve into the freelance writing industry. While I am eager to begin this new journey, I will admit it does come with some intimidation. Writing for monetary compensation is a whole new ballgame compared to writing for pure enjoyment. However, I am confident that with some completed jobs under my belt, my confidence will soar. Even though I intend to continue writing fictional novels and novellas, freelance writing provides an exceptional opportunity to push my limits and expand my knowledge. It also has the potential to become a valuable side hustle for me. I aspire to maintain my creativity and keep readers on their toes with unexpected twists in my writing.
As a writer, my ultimate goal is to instill a range of emotions and stimulate thoughts within my readers. I have found that I can accomplish this feat more effortlessly when constructing fiction pieces, as opposed to crafting articles on particular subjects. Whether I am composing content for an article, blog post, or for a client on Upwork, my aim remains constant - to provide my readers with a similarly unforgettable experience. Furthermore, I have taken the initiative to apply to various paid writing sites and am presently awaiting feedback regarding the acceptance of my audition articles.
As writers, we are all susceptible to a range of emotions when we venture outside our comfort zone and attempt something new. This is true not only in writing but in all aspects of life - be it relocating to a different city or starting a fresh job. Initially, we may experience a sense of trepidation or anxiety toward the unfamiliar. Nonetheless, as time progresses, those sentiments tend to dissipate and we realize that change can be a constructive force. We can acquire knowledge and develop from novel experiences and relationships.
Our unwavering positivity and eagerness to welcome a new addition is truly commendable and serve as a source of inspiration for others. It's important to remember that setbacks are not the end-all-be-all, but rather, opportunities for growth and improvement. In today's fast-paced society, it's all too easy to throw in the towel when faced with adversity, but we mustn't forget the resilience and perseverance exhibited by previous generations. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside of our comfort zones is crucial in achieving success, whether it be financial or personal. It's imperative to keep moving forward and to remember that the willingness to take risks can often lead to astonishing rewards.
I think I will continue to blog about this experience from time to time moving forward as you may glean something for yourselves from my mistakes or successes. All there is to do now is jump in and get offered a project and you won't get a project unless you apply to a client's request.
If there are any readers out there that have already gone through this process or are like me just beginning hit me up on Facebook, Twitter, email, or just post a comment, I would love to hear about your experience with freelance writing.
