Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and your work?
My name is Melisa Todd, but I write under Mel Todd and I tell stories. (Yes she does and they will take you on a fabulous journey!) My favorites are where someone like you or me gets dumped into a situation and has to figure a way out. But I also like magic and aliens and spaceships so sometimes they may have neat tools or abilities to use.
I challenged Mel Todd to sell her work to us in 20 words or less. To tempt us... hook us... what did she say? Aliens, shifters, the whole world watching you – what would you do if you knew aliens were coming? (I'm in!)
Q: Where is your go to place to write?
Anywhere. I have a desk at home, but I have a laptop so I can travel as well as notebooks, lots of notebooks.
Q: What is your favorite genre to write?
Urban Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, Science Fiction.
Q: Is there anything you must have in order to write? What are your writing routines?
Time – time helps. I'm not good at a sentence here or there, I need to see what I've written to be able to continue it.
Q: What books have influenced you most, both as a person and as an author?
Tarzan. I love those books even to this day. Other than that Marcus Aurelius.
Q: What is the one thing that has helped you develop most as an author?
Writing, then writing more, then writing more. The only thing you can do to get better is get feedback and write more.
Q: What do you want to achieve most from your writing?
Money!!! Lol – I want to make a living writing.
Q: Is there something specific you do to improve your writing?
Read, try to learn from my edits, and push myself.
Q: How have you set about the task of creating enticing cover art?
HA! I don't. I hire people. Really my cat can do better art than me.
Q: How often do you read? What genre?
As often as I can. I need the input to keep myself sane. I listen to almost everything – romance, thriller, murder mystery, non-fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, science fiction. Everything is good.
Q: If you had a direct line to someone who loves your writing, what would you say to them?
I have more books – HERE! Talk about me, share with your friends, please?
Write. Sit down and write. There are lots of places to get help, but you need to write.
Q: What does your writing future hold for you? Are there any projects or text in the works?
I'm starting a new series called Twisted Luck and if people like the world it should spawn at least ten other series.
Book 1: My Luck is now up for preorders here- I have mine, do you?
